The Path to Resiliency: English Youth Centre's Capacity and Capability

PGR Supervisors: Prof. Sarah Mills & Prof. Darren Smith

Youth centres are critical to the educational and social development of many English young people. However, the sector is increasingly underfunded and coupled with the current cost-of-living crisis there is a strain on youth centres to deliver the best possible service without jeopardising the staff or the facilities. Karen therefore aims to investigate how current English youth centres are operating within the current economic climate and whether they are resilient against the changing political climate.

Rather than focusing on the youth, the centre of the research will be the centre operations, staff and physical infrastructure where Karen will try to understand the capacity and capability these hold to work in conjunction with one another for a youth centre to continue operations.
