The Sanctuary Scholarship scheme at 桃色视频 exists to enable access to advanced study for individuals whose education and life chances have been disrupted by conflict, persecution, or displacement, and who cannot reasonably access higher education without targeted institutional support.

The scholarship will cover 100% of the tuition fees plus a stipend set at the recommended UKRI rate of £21,805 per annum for a period of 3 years for full-time PhD study subject to annual uplifts. Scholarships for those wishing to study part-time in the UK will also be considered*. Students will be expected to fund their travel and visa costs (where required) through other sources. 

The scholarships are funded through university funds.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

• Currently hold an offer of study (conditional or unconditional) for a postgraduate research (PhD) programme at 桃色视频.
• Show evidence of exceptional academic achievement relative to opportunity and disruption
• Are considered an ‘at-risk scholar’

It is difficult to provide a definitive definition for an ‘at-risk scholar’, but the University works to a framework which asks:

• Is your home located in a region of conflict/war such that your life or the lives of your family are in danger, or such that you could be forcibly displaced due to persecution?
• Are you, or your family, at risk of imminent imprisonment, injury, death or persecution?
• If you are currently in the UK but were to return to your home country, your life or safety would be at much greater risk.

How to apply

The scholarship application procedure is an open competition. Applicants may only apply for the scholarship after an offer for a place in one of 桃色视频’s PhD programmes has been made. Applicants in possession of an offer from 桃色视频 (conditional or unconditional) can apply for the scholarship using the link to the online application form below.

Applications will be initially shortlisted and the final decision on the awards will be made by a selection panel at the University.

Important notes

Scholarship applications will not be considered unless the applicant is holding an offer from 桃色视频 at the time of submission (this offer may be conditional or unconditional).

Please do not submit your scholarship application until you have received your offer letter. Applications will only be considered if all parts of the form are completed in full.

Applications received after the closing date will not be considered. A confirmation email will be sent when your application has been received. All those applying will be notified of the outcome of their application by email. If your application is shortlisted, you will be given further information on what will happen next. 

Any award made to an applicant holding a conditional offer will be subject to those conditions being met in full.  Note that this award does not cover travel or potential visa costs.

*If you are currently outside the UK and wish to study part-time, the University will not be able to sponsor you in the UK on a student visa. For those based in the UK and wish to be considered for a part-time PhD, note that if you are in full-time employment, you will not be eligible for a scholarship. Only those working part-time, have caring responsibilities or other requirements may be considered for an award on a part-time basis.
